Roscoe Village

Because Roscoe Village is located close to Wrigley Field, downtown Chicago and the lake front, it is considered a very popular and in high demand area to reside. Located in the middle of Lakeview and Lincoln Park, it is a much quieter and peaceful neighborhood. It is considered part of the West Lake View neighborhood. 


Boundaries are Belmont Avenue to the South, Addison Street to the north, Ravenswood Avenue to the east and the Chicago River to the west. 


It is known for its excellent private and public schools making it a popular choice among families.  Just walk down the street and you will see lots of strollers and children.

There are several boutiques for your shoppers to check out as well and ecletic artwork.


Transportation

A quick train ride or drive to the loop, which is only four miles.  The brown line “EL” also stops on Addison so riding to downtown Chicago is pretty easy and quick as well.

As of lately, real estate has been in great demand in the area because of its close proximity to downtown Chicago and the Loop.  It is an exciting area.  Homes are classical style homes, renovated apartments, and you will find a number of converted lofts.

According to Trulia.com, the median sales price for Dec 08 to Feb 09 was $445,000 and there were 26 sales recorded. The median sales price increased 7.2%, or $30,000, from the same time one year ago, and the number of sales decreased 64.4%. Average price per square foot  was $401, which was a decrease of 12.8% compared to a year ago same time.

The average listing price for homes in Roscoe Village was $630,611 for the week ending March 25, 2009, which was a decrease of 0.1%, or $581, compared to the prior week.

Attractions

There are neighborhood street festivals in the summer. The most popular is Retro on Roscoe where bands playing music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s keep everyone happy. Also another popular event is the Roscoe Village Garden walk where 50 local gardens can be viewed in a walking tour of the area.

Roscoe Villager’s enjoying eating brunch cuisine at the local restaurants.  For dinner options, try latin , Turkish, sushi, Mediterranean, South American, and Italian cuisines. The area is a culinary delight.
